RDPE supports training, group based advice, information provision and the uptake of the latest technology for all adults within agriculture, food and forestry businesses. The overall objective is raise the overall level of skills in the farming, food and forestry sectors as a means of improving the competitiveness of these industries and the contribution they can make to a better environment and healthy and prosperous communities. In the agricultural and food sectors, trainees must be engaged in a business, organisation or social enterprise which is dependent on agriculture or utilises any agricultural products. In the case of training for the forestry sector, trainees must be engaged in a business, organisation or social enterprise in the South East which is dependent on woodland or utilises any woodland or forest products. In the South East we expect the majority of funding to go to those who spend greater than 50% of their time involved in farming, forestry or horticulture. Individual trainees cannot receive funds directly. Instead, training providers apply for grant support and then make RDPE funded courses available to eligible trainees. In the South East the majority of training will be delivered through a small number of pan-regional contracts that encompass the leading training providers in the region. This is to ensure a more coordinated approach to training delivery in the region so that trainees can access training more easily. To search for training courses in your area, please visit the Lantra CourseFinder. There are currently two pan-regional training programmes approved for RDPE funding in the South East and London . 1. Landskills South East Landskills South East is an extensive vocational training programme targeted primarily at people engaged in agriculture, horticulture and forestry. The programme is being coordinated and managed by the Rbat/LANTRA consortium between Lantra, the sector skills council for environment and land based businesses and the Rural Business Advice and Training (Rbat) network.
