Forestry and Woodlands Framework

The South East is the most wooded region of England , and as such, trees, woodlands and forestry are already playing an important part in our quality of life, environment and local economies. Valuation studies show our woodlands to be worth well over £1 billion per year to the region.

While recognising what woods offer to the region, we also realise that without action to secure their future, their value will decline and we will start to see a decrease in the contributions that they offer.

‘Seeing the Wood for the Trees', a forestry and woodlands framework for South East England, sets out a framework for the future development of woodlands and forestry in the region. The framework's vision is for our woods to make an increasing contribution to the sustainable development of the South East region, in both rural and urban areas.

To find out more about the framework and to download a copy of the publication, visit the Seeing the Wood for the Trees website here.
