The importance and recognition of the part culture has to play in economic development has been growing since the Select Committee on Culture and Regeneration reported in 2003.
SEEDA recognises the part culture has to play in economic development. There is a solid evidence base for the contribution that the cultural sector can make to the economy, to education and skills, to the quality of living in the region's towns and cities, and to regeneration.
Culture is a fast growing economic sector in its own right, with media and sports occupations, it is predicted to grow by 2-3% a year.
