Flexible and responsive provision to meet employer's and employees' training needs
The Action for Business Programme concluded in Autumn 2007. Over three years 27 colleges received accreditation. The Action for Business Colleges Standard was developed in response to the Government's Skills Strategy published in July 2003 which emphasised the importance of colleges and training providers becoming more ‘demand-led’ and responsive to the needs of employers. The programme had two key purposes- firstly as a development tool for providers focused on offering high quality, responsive services to employers and secondly as an independently assessed quality standard.
The Standard focused on ensuring providers were geared up to work with employers by checking management systems, the delivery of products and services to employers and engagement with local business.
For employers seeking a training provider, the Action for Business quality mark helps them identify providers that have a track record of working with employers and delivering a consistent high standard of service.
The programme was jointly developed and funded by the LSC South East and SEEDA and has now been superseded by the New Standard Programme (www.newstandard.co.uk).
