Development Partners Sought for Key Regeneration Site in Southampton 3rd December 2004 Expressions of interest are being sought from developers which have a track record of producing schemes incorporating high standards of sustainable regeneration, and experience of working on large, complex, mixed-use developments. SEEDA is seeking to procure commercial and residential development partners to deliver a thriving and sustainable mixed-use community. It is proposed that up to 1,500 homes and 60,000 sq m of commercial space will be developed and will help to create or safeguard up to 1,000 jobs. SEEDA's Head of Land and Property (West), Ken Glendinning, commented: "This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work with SEEDA to deliver in partnership the regeneration of a major waterfront site. This development will be a significant boost for the local and wider communities and we look forward to now engaging with our partners." A planning brief has been agreed and adopted by Southampton City Council, and SEEDA has developed an illustrative masterplan that shows a broad mix of uses to include 45,000 sq m of marine related employment and up to 140,000 sq m of residential space. A further 15,000 sq m has been identified for retail, leisure and community facilities, which will be incorporated into the heart of the scheme. Submissions, in the form of a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ), to develop all or part of the site, will be reviewed by the Agency early in 2005 and a shortlist of developers announced in spring 2005. The selection of the preferred development partners will take place in summer 2005. For a copy of the PQQ, please visit the website: www.woolstonriverside.com. |
