SOUTH EAST BUILDS ON FIRM BUSINESS FOUNDATIONS

Five new appointments to the Board of the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) have been announced by the Minister for Employment and the Regions, Alan Johnson.

The new Board Members - John Peel, Terry Mills, Sarah Hohler, Keith House and Paul Christensen CBE - bring an abundance of business, commerce, public, rural and voluntary sector experience to SEEDA's Board.

"Our new Board Members' joint experience complements the skills of our existing team and will further assist SEEDA's drive to achieve sustainable economic growth throughout the region," said SEEDA Chief Executive, Anthony Dunnett.

SEEDA Chairman, Allan Willett CMG, added, "We are delighted to welcome the new Members to the Board. Each one will add to SEEDA's rich resource of experience and help us meet our objectives for the South East."

Commenting on the new appointments, Minister for Employment and the Regions, Alan Johnson said:

"Today's appointments will provide new talent and fresh ideas for SEEDA, complementing the abilities of the existing Board members. The boost in business experience is particularly important for the challenge of promoting the economic development of the regions. I will all of the new Board members great success.

"The RDA's perform a key role in driving regional economic development and the Government has given them more money and more flexibility to do this."

Mr. Willett also commended the outgoing Board Members. "I would like to thank our departing Board Members for all their hard work and support over the past years. Their commitment has been second to none and their efforts have helped SEEDA lay strong foundations for the future."
