Hitting the Targets

The theme of the 2006 Waste Summit was Hitting the Targets contained in national and regional Waste Management Strategies. The Summit was organised by the South East Centre of Excellence (SECE) for the Waste Stream, the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), the South East England Regional Assembly and the Environment Agency.

As you will see from the agenda below a wide range of speakers from a variety of backgrounds tackled topics such as building recycling and reprocessing capacity, overcoming the barriers to implementation, achieving value for money and using proven or new waste management technologies. Martin Cox, of the DEFRA Waste Strategy unit talked about the Waste Strategy 2000 review and the need to integrate the municipal and commercial and industrial waste streams.
