FAQs

Who do I contact?
The programme is running through the KTP offices of the partner Universities. Please email businessplus@port.ac.uk with details of your location and we will pass on contact details.

What does 'significant interaction' really mean?
This programme is trying to engage SMEs that are new to interaction with Universities. This particularly means micro businesses or those that are currently unable to make a commitment to the lengthier DTI KTP scheme. Interaction through student projects or graduate recruitment is evaluated in the assessment panel and some activity of that nature does not automatically make the SME ineligible.

Does the SME have to pay anything?
Yes, there is a contribution of £1400 per month towards to costs of employment of the graduate.

Will we be able to recruit someone?
Finding the right graduate is a challenge, we have tried to make all the other processes 'light touch'; but Universities will have to follow their normal Human Resource procedures. Please discuss individual issues with your contact.

Can I send I member of staff to the training weekend and what will it cost?
Yes and a charge will be made for the accommodation and meals only: £255.00
