RES Action Plans

Regional Economic Strategy Action Plans

In autumn 2007 with the publication of the Regional Economic Strategy Implementation Plan we described our intention to create a 'Living RES'.
This we envisaged as dynamic tracking of progress through an annual monitoring and reporting cycle accompanied by ongoing development of the underpinning thinking and priorities.

A key element of this concept is the ongoing work on Action Plans detailing specific activities against each of the 14 targets as set out in the Regional Economic Strategy (RES). A first draft set of Action Plans was published alongside the consultation document on the RES Implementation Plan. Since their publication partners across the region have been working to update and refine the Action Plans. This work was facilitated by SEEDA in close collaboration with the target sponsors.

The Action Plans are instrumental to a successful delivery of the RES and provide the basis for the Living RES concept alongside the Annual Monitoring Report. Their purpose is to guide and channel the regions'
effort to deliver the RES, including the leverage of business plans of stakeholders all across the region.

The Action Plans published below are work in progress and a RES Steering Group has been establish to review the strategic direction of travel as well as to review whether the identified actions are still the most relevant to achieve the overarching vision of delivering sustainable prosperity for the region or whether changing circumstances require new ideas and initiatives.

An integral part of the Living RES meeting cycle is the annual Partners'
Conference which will provide a forum for a wider debate involving a wide range of stakeholders as implementing the Regional Economic Strategy is not the sole responsibility of any one organisation, but requires a sustained and coordinated approach by all. The first annual Partners' Conference is scheduled for Friday 4 July 2008 in Guildford.

SEEDA will continue to engage with partners to review the Action Plans.
If you would like to be involved in the revision of these Action Plans please contact: Arno Schmickler, Head of Policy Coordination and RDA Liaison, SEEDA, Cross Lanes, Surrey, GU1 1YA, or email SEEDA here.
