Art Plus - the Awards Scheme for Art in Public Places - has been set up jointly by Arts Council England, South East and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). The objectives for Art Plus are: to celebrate and encourage good practice in public art commissioning in the South East and to emphasise the quality of art and artists in creating quality of environment to which we all aspire.

Cowes Waterfront is about planning the future of Cowes, East Cowes and the River Medina Valley as far as Newport Harbour. It is about identifying the function of the area, the contribution it can make to the Island's economy, and putting in place a strategic framework to guide new investment and development opportunities. The aim is to facilitate a "step change" in the Island's economy by attracting new investment to provide the facilities and attractions that both local people and visitors can enjoy. This investment will enable the growth of local businesses and the attraction of new businesses.
The Creative Media Centre is an innovative incubation facility designed to help entrepreneurs in the creative media sector start or grow their businesses. By providing high quality office suites in the heart of Hastings with the latest technology and business services, it creates a vibrant, supportive community for creative firms in the Hastings, Bexhill and Rother region.
The Creative Media Centre was established by Sea Space with funds from SEEDA and the European Union. A second building will open in autumn 2005 offering a further 10,000 square feet of office suites and business facilities.
The land which SEEDA have acquired from the former MoD Daedalus site based at Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, will provide a unique and exciting opportunity for a sustainable, high quality mixed-use development with potentially far-reaching benefits for the Solent area. Designing Demand is a new programme developed by the Design Council to help businesses exploit design to the full.
It gives businesses the skills they need to spot how design can boost their performance and it helps them to seize new-found design opportunities.
By delivering design to the strategic heart of companies, the programme supports managers in using design to make decisions and then to implement them.
Designing Demand's various elements are geared to suit businesses at different stages of development from small start-ups looking for investment or growth to mature businesses searching for a fresh burst of energy or a new strategic direction.

The Grow project is a €7.5 million InterregIIIC programme and runs from June 2005 to December 2007. The joint programme covers a network of five high growths regions; Emilia-Romagna in Italy, Andalucia in Spain, Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands, Malopolska in Poland, South East of England.
Over the next two and half years, the participating regions will organise a series of calls for tenders against three priorities. Between 18-25 projects will be approved for the duration of the programme with an aim to support strategic co-operations in areas of: Green Growth – Environment Business Growth – Business cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship Inclusive Growth – Employment and social inclusion.
With a total project value of 29m Euros and an ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) share of 14m Euros this is the largest INTERREG IIIB NEW project approved so far by the European Commission. It brings together 18 transnational partners from England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany – led by SEEDA. The project focuses on strategic policy integration at regional, national and European level and on the implementation of best practice investment projects associated with the high speed rail network.
The INTERREG IIIB NWE project, led by SEEDA – the South East England Development Agency – has 14 strategic and investment partners from England France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. With a total project value of 19m and an ERDF share of 8m, it is closely associated with the HST4i project launched in 2004.
The project concentrates on two key issues: developing the secondary public transport system to feed efficiently and economically into the primary HST network and making stations better places to travel to, through and from–and to do business in. Better accessibility to stations and better station environments help improve economic performance and cultural integration and will reduce social exclusion.
The HST projects are core contributors to the European Commission’s spatial development expectations for transport and connectivity as well as European-wide cross-border access and activity.
Intermodal Port Access & Commodities Transport in Europe (IMPACTE)
Co-funded under the European INTERREG IIIB programme for North West Europe, the IMPACTE project, led by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), brings together a partnership of 26 investment, strategic, public sector and research partners from Belgium, England and France.
The project promotes and facilitates sustainable port based development and distribution of freight, focusing on economic, social and environmental benefits. The project includes small-scale investments in port infrastructure and feasibility works to improve intermodal port access. Through research, the project will also raise the profile of ports in terms of their contribution to the regional, national and European economy.

Marine South East is the regional marine initiative of the South East of
England Development Agency (SEEDA) developed to address the needs of the
marine sector in the South East region.
The South East marine sector is estimated to be worth 5bn and
contributes almost 5% of the region's gross domestic product. The sector
includes activities in leisure marine, commercial and offshore
equipment, ports and shipping, marine services and contracting, ship
building and repair, trade associations, research, education and
training.

There is an exciting future ahead for Queenborough and Rushenden on the Isle of Sheppey in, with the launch of a major regeneration scheme to create a vibrant environment in which to live and work. This is a major opportunity that aims to breathe new life into the area with the creation of superb transport links, hundreds of employment opportunities, community and leisure facilities, environmental improvements and new housing. With a cash injection of £7 million from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's (ODPM's) Sustainable Communities Plan, plus £3 million from SEEDA the initial stages of the much-needed redevelopment have already been funded.

The Value project is a SEEDA and the European Social Fund (ESF) Co-financed project designed to encourage and support the growth of Small and Medium sized Enterprises.
