Impact of ICT On SMEs

SEEDA event: ‘The Impact of ICT on SMEs in tough economic times’

Southampton
10 December 2008

"The Impact of ICT on SMEs in Tough Economic Times’ event was held Wednesday 10th December at Millbrook Technology Campus, Southampton. The event featured presentations from SEEDA’s Arthur Butterfield, and focused on identifying the problems that businesses have, or expect to have, with ICT, and how SEEDA and its partners can work to address them. Chris Owen of BMG, Mark Batchelor of IBM, Andy Hudson of BT, Sandy Lovatt of FSB, Martin Harvey of e-skills UK and Tim Gainford of Ashford’s Future also made presentations.

Hopefully this event will be the start of a new conversation about the use of ICT in business. Several now feel the need to begin to learn more from each other and to discover the new opportunities that there are with this crucial ingredient for productivity and profitability."

Evaluation comments from the event included:

"Thank you for organising the meeting yesterday I found it very interesting and stimulating."

"I would like to thank you and you team on a very informative and enjoyable event you organised this Wednesday at Millbrook Technology Campus regarding the impact of ICT on SME's. I would be most interested to attend any further events SEEDA have planned on this subject/research."

"The BT presentation was particularly helpful in reminding us that it is all about saving time and saving/gaining money."

"A good start to an interesting conversation. I found the event very interesting and useful in gaining an insight into the impact that ICT knowledge can have on SME's."
