Thames Gateway and Ashford in Kent have both been highlighted as major areas of growth in the ODPM's Sustainable Communities Plan. The Thames Gateway is a national priority for regeneration and growth and is the first and biggest of the Government's four growth areas identified in the Sustainable Communities Plan, launched by the Deputy Prime Minister in February 2003.
